I could read/listen to this book over and over again. She continues to reveal pieces of characters up until the last chapter. She really dives into the characters and unravels who they are, not just at their introductory states, but throughout the entire story. The foreshadowing throughout the entire book is on target. Henry writes her scenes with exquisite illumination that brings everything to life and makes the setting so clear. I usually yawn after the first chapter of a love story but I could not shut this book off. This book is an incredible piece of fiction, although I believe this plot has likely occurred once or twice in real life. Well let me just say I found those reviews far off. About halfway through I read some reviews about how they disliked the main character, that the plot was so predictable, and so on. I started this book, didn’t read the blurb or reviews like I usually do but knew I had a credit on my account and needed something to pass the time while I worked. If Nora knows she’s not an ideal heroine, Charlie knows he’s nobody’s hero, but as they are thrown together again and again-in a series of coincidences no editor worth their salt would allow-what they discover might just unravel the carefully crafted stories they’ve written about themselves. It would be a meet-cute if not for the fact that they’ve met many times and it’s never been cute. But instead of picnics in meadows, or run-ins with a handsome country doctor or bulging-forearmed bartender, Nora keeps bumping into Charlie Lastra, a bookish brooding editor from back in the city. Which is why she agrees to go to Sunshine Falls, North Carolina, for the month of August when Libby begs her for a sisters’ trip away-with visions of a small town transformation for Nora, who she’s convinced needs to become the heroine in her own story. In fact, the only people Nora is a heroine for are her clients, for whom she lands enormous deals as a cutthroat literary agent, and her beloved little sister Libby. Not the plucky one, not the laidback dream girl, and especially not the sweetheart. Nora Stephens' life is books-she’s read them all-and she is not that type of heroine.
